The Ezzy Commitment
Ezzy Sails was founded in 1983 by David Ezzy on the island of Maui. From the
start, our mission has gone beyond performance — it’s built on integrity,
responsibility, and respect for the people who make our sails.
In the early 1990s, while leading production for a major international sail
brand, David Ezzy made the difficult decision to resign when cost-cutting
measures endangered both product quality and worker health. That choice
led to the creation of Ezzy Sails Lanka in 1993 — a factory founded on fairness,
safety, and pride in craftsmanship.
Owning our own production facility allows us to guarantee more than world-
class sails. It ensures ethical working conditions, fair wages, and a healthy
environment where every employee is treated with dignity. Many of our Sri
Lankan team members are shareholders — a reflection of shared trust and
long-term commitment.
We also believe in the transformative power of education. As David Ezzy says,
“Education has the power to solve all of the world’s main problems: war,
famine, and discrimination.” Through the Ezzy Foundation Fund, a portion of
every sail we make helps provide school supplies for the children of our
employees — supporting the next generation and creating a cycle of
opportunity and hope.
